DUBAI: Pakistan beat India 2-1 in a karate battle with captain Shahzaib Rindh on Saturday in the final round of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) decider in Dubai, where Rana Singh overpowered him.
A tense battle ended with Pakistan’s Rizwan Ali and India’s Himanshu Kaushik winning the first and second matches respectively.
The event started with Pakistan’s Rizwan Ali against India’s Pawan Gupta in the first round. The Pakistani had no trouble breaking down his opponent as Rupwan quickly floored Gupta after Rizwan rocked him in the first round.
Pakistan were leading 1-0 before India’s Himanshu Kaushik met Faizan Khan in the second half. If Pakistan win this match, they can win the match, but Kaushik can’t beat Faizan because he doesn’t get the bat because he lost five kilos than Uloomi Karim.
With the match tied 1-1, Pakistan captain Shahzaib Rind entered the decider to face India’s Rana Singh. From the start of the fight, Rindh’s constant attacks cornered his opponent and he eventually won the fight by technical knockout decision.
After the war, Rindh publicly raised the flags of Pakistan and India as a sign of peace between the two countries.
“This war is for peace. At this point, Karate extended his fighting record to 5-0. He also created history when he scored the fastest knockout at Karate Combat 44 in Mexico City in February this year. The 25-year-old stunned Peru’s Marco Cubas with a knockout 21 seconds into the first round.
Earlier, Rindh slapped Rana on stage during a press conference on Friday. “How are you?” said Rindh after the conflict scene.
