ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Friday credited Google for setting up a local meeting of Chromebooks in Pakistan and said providing digital devices to teachers and students would help reduce the education divide in the country.
In a meeting with a high-level Google delegation, issues related to the effective use of technology in education, artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy were discussed.

The group briefed the Minister of State for IT on the Google Literacy program.
Princess Fatima said that equipping the youth with digital skills to improve their skills is the need of the hour. He said teachers and students should be trained in using digital tools and that digital literacy can lead to better job opportunities.
Smart schools are important for distance learning, he said. The Ministry of IT and Telecommunication will fully cooperate and support Google in implementing its initiative, he said.
Additional secretary Aisha Humera Moriani, IT Member Syed Junaid Imam and Telecommunication Member Mohammad Jahanzeb Rahim also attended the meeting.
