LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Senator Irfan Siddiqui of the PML-N on Monday pledged to oppose any attempts to postpone the general elections scheduled for February 8 and insisted on sticking to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) established schedule, reiterating the stance frequently voiced by the party’s top officials.
Siddiqui stated that the PML-N has a clear and concise stance on the various resolutions that have been presented in the Senate in a post that was published on X, the social media site that was once known as Twitter.
He pledged that the PML-N will reject any resolution that suggested delaying the elections scheduled for February 8 for any reason.

In order to address the problems that the people were facing and establish political stability in the nation, Siddiqui—a close confidant of three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is vying for a record-breaking fourth term in office—said that early elections were essential.
Nawaz is contesting the polls from two constituencies, one in Lahore and one in Mansehra, following his dismissal from the NAB references and the ruling by the Supreme Court to shorten the five-year disqualification period.
