LAHORE: PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday highlighted the critical link between political stability and economic prosperity in the country and emphasized that to achieve economic stability, it is necessary to resolve political differences through constructive dialogue.
In a statement released on Sunday, Shehbaz, who is also PML-N’s nominee for the post of prime minister, noted that the need for unity for political and economic stability has never been greater than today.
He said political stability and a peaceful environment were essential to attract foreign investment.
The former prime minister said concerted efforts were needed to eradicate poverty and unemployment in the country. He also stressed the need to spend as much as possible on the welfare of the people, even while adopting simplicity and frugality.
Shehbaz expressed his deep concern over the progress of all the provinces and affirmed that Pakistan will prosper only if all its units prosper.
He emphasized the importance of facing challenges and difficulties with courage and hard work and affirmed the need for political parties to move forward unitedly to solve the problems faced by both ordinary Pakistanis and the country.
During his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz recalled that billions of rupees were saved through prudent spending and savings on development projects, creating a new record of efficiency and savings.
Describing Nawaz Sharif’s tenure as a golden era of progress and prosperity, Shehbaz said that under his far-sighted leadership, the country would walk the path of happiness and progress.
