RAWALPINDI: Former federal minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has expressed his concern over rising utility bills and economic hardships being faced by common citizens.
In a recent video message, Rasheed revealed his huge gas bill and said the bill had ballooned to $1 million despite using a small amount.
“Since then I was arrested, the stove does not turn on in my house during the day, I have breakfast in the cart and we cook only at night, but the fuel bill has reached one million rupiah,” Rashid said.
He also noted that residents living in inner-city neighborhoods struggle with gas bills between $6,000 and $8,000.
Addressing the country’s leaders, Rashid warned of a “blind revolution” in the streets as people struggle under persistent inflation.
“The face is collapsing, we are facing an economic and political disaster. It is important to understand that the situation is out of control. Thieves and robbers have come to settle the case and extinguish the hearth of the poor,” he said.
Rashid highlighted the plight of the poor and said the current crisis is more than just an election dispute. “This is not the war of 45 and 47, but a quest for the survival of the poor. The responsible group must act to save the poor from destruction, for God’s sake.”
In addition, he revealed that the electricity bill has reached $168,000.
