Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced on Tuesday that he has named Sher Afzal Marwat as the chairman of the powerful Public Accounts Committee (PAC), ending a controversy. former ruling party.
“Once the party chooses Marwat’s name, all debates are over,” the PTI leader said during an interaction with reporters in Rawalpindi.
Last week, PTI General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, said that Marwat should be made the PAC chairman by the party founder. Previous names of Sunni Union Council (SIK) Hamid Khan and Hamid Raza made headlines for the top post of PAC.
Earlier, senior party leader Latif Khosa announced that PTI has decided to appoint senior leader Hamid Khan as PAC chairman.
“We are not communicating outside or negotiating with anyone,” Gohar said, categorically denying media reports that the PTI had formed a committee to hold talks with the military establishment.
According to media reports, PTI has formed a three-member committee consisting of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz to hold talks with the military establishment.
