The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to stop the mobile service while finding a solution to prevent cheating in the MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test)
Test. Actually the decision is taken to stop the paper from being leaked or cheat. It should be remembered that a month ago in the medical entry test, it was exposed that the mobile phone was being used through Bluetooth for cheating after which the tests were canceled and a new date of November 26 was set in.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has prepared a plan and rules and regulations regarding the MDCAT exams. It should be remembered that examination centers for MDCAT test will be held in eleven districts including Peshawar, DI Khan, Kohat, Mardan, Lower Dir, Swat and Abbottabad.
Important measures will be taken under the supervision of Peshawar Police while details of duty staff for examinations will be issued by Khyber Medical University.
Delivery of all examination materials from Khyber Medical University to examination centers will be under police supervision. On the other hand, for all the security measures including the walk-through gate for the examination, the police will get the support of FIA, while CCTV cameras will be installed.
In all the designated examination centers of the province while the duty staff will be fully trained on the use of mobile phones by students.
The ban will be imposed and the staff of the health department will be deployed to deal with any emergency situation. It has been stated in the announcement that the deputy commissioners of all the seven districts will also perform their duties as regional coordinator officers and the relevant institutions will have the best coordination among themselves.
It is the first time in the history of the province that such strict measures have been taken for a test which is definitely appreciated. In fact, here too, the main issue is not to give severe punishment to the people and students involved in handing out the papers or involved in cheating, due to which such acts are repeated and the people involved get away cleanly while the same happened in the above mentioned case, in which the people involved were released on bail.
It seems that this matter will also be dismissed. Thus, it is important to take important measures like shutting down mobile phones, as well as other simple methods of cheating and methods of providing solved papers, which are not 100% possible but life time bane on those involved persons can make the system transparent which requires further legislation.
So that no one can indulge in that odious business after paying a minor punishment or fine, for that purpose Medical Colleges, Universities and Higher Education Commission needs to fix new SOPs between them so that eligible candidates can get their rights.
If we looked at the above cancelled entry-test, there must be some students who have prepared a lot for the said test but due to the cancellation of the test, their preparations have been interrupted and due to that break, if any student get low marks or fails then who will be responsible for that, for which probably no one has the right answer.
Hence, there is a need to plan long-term policies without waiting for another scandal to occur so that only qualified and competent students can advance in the medical field. When unqualified and absolute students who use money for the admissions become doctors then there is no such thing as humanity in them besides they look at the patient from the point of view of a client.
Consequently, all relevant institutions, including the Higher Education Commission, need to think about it so that, in future no one’s rights can be ruined by using technology or money. If the higher authorities do not pay attention to the above important issue, not only more such scandals will continue to come on the surface but it will also have a negative impact on the medical field.
