Almost 12 years after the release of the comedy film ‘Son of Sardaar’, Ajay Devgn is back with a sequel, sparking curiosity about the actor. While initial reports indicated that neither Sonakshi Sinha nor Sanjay Dutt will be playing the role, there is a new update for fans of Dutt’s character. Midday reports that Sanjay Dutt has signed a sequel to Son of Sardaar 2. However, there is one important twist – the film will not be a continuation of the original plot, but a completely new story.
“The sequel is a new story,” a source told the publication. “It’s not going to be where the original movie went.” This news might leave some fans wondering about Devgn and Dutt’s roles. The source assures that while the story is new, the actors will retain the names of their characters – Ajay Devgn, Jaswinder “Jassi” Singh Randhawa, and Sanjay Dutt as Balwinder “Billu” Singh Sandhu.
While the name remains the same, the source hinted at a major change in the dynamic character. Despite their differences on screen, Ajay and Sanjay are close friends in real life. Ajay has given Sanjay a great role in the second installment.”
Putra Sardaar 2 will be helmed by successful Punjabi director Vijay Kumar Arora, who collaborated with Devgn as cinematographer for 2014’s Action Jackson.
Arora plans to start the comedy by the end of July and shoot for 50 days in Scotland. The choice of location is particularly interesting. Scotland has beautiful landscapes – castles, historic towns, piers (lakes) and beaches – which have been the backdrop for great films such as Game of Thrones and Harry Potter. “The team went on holiday earlier this year and completed some great places. These included the towns of Glencoe and Glenfinnan, Culross Castle, Doune Castle, Preston Mill and Falkland Castle,” he said.
These spectacular locations are expected to complete the blend of action and drama envisioned by the director. Several romantic songs featuring Devgn and female lead Mrunal Thakur will also be shot in Scotland, the source added.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is currently working on Rohit Shetty’s Singham, which is expected to go on floors next week. After that, he will dedicate himself to Sardaar 2. After completing his Scottish schedule, Devgn is heading to London to shoot for De De Pyaar De 2.
