ISLAMABAD: As a prelude to the esteemed Surgicon 2024, Capital Hospital CDA Islamabad successfully hosted a live workshop on bariatric surgery in association with the Society of Surgeons Pakistan Rawalpindi/Islamabad Chapter. Along with the Capital Hospital Dean and Course Director, the Chief Organizer and Master Trainer of CDA Hospital, and the Executive Director of Capital Hospital graced the workshop as patrons.
Three obese CDA employees received complimentary bariatric surgery during the training, which was organized by Chairman CDA. This program demonstrates the Capital Development Authority’s dedication to the health and welfare of its employees.
The session shed light on the seriousness of obesity, which is a major contributor to type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obstructive sleep apnea, and a host of other fatal illnesses. The incident served as a reminder of how crucial bariatric surgery is as the gold standard for treating obesity and related conditions.
While Deen of the Capital Hospital displayed his talents by performing a laparoscopic mini gastric bypass on a couple of morbidly obese patients, the course director, main organizer, and master trainer of the hospital skillfully conducted a laparoscopic mini gastric bypass. According to the bariatric surgeon, the surgeries offered useful insights into the most recent methods and developments in bariatric surgery.
The main guest, Chairman CDA, praised the Executive Director, Deen, the Course Director, the Chief Organizer, and the Master Trainer of Capital Hospital for putting together an important and educational program. A renowned bariatric and vascular surgeon from KRL Hospital moderated the session and brought a great deal of value to the event.
District and Tehsil surgeons from across the region, including Pindi Gheb, Battagram, and Swat, turned out in force for the event. Tanzania and Kenya were among the international participants in this session. Surgeons from the top twin cities hospitals, along with their surgical residents, took part in an extensive learning experience with expert trainers.
The Society of Surgeons’ President graced the occasion and praised the workshop’s excellent caliber. The course director, primary organizer, and master trainer at Capital Hospital stressed the need of raising public awareness of the risks associated with obesity. Emphasizing the wide-ranging harm resulting from obesity and its associated conditions, Deen Capital Hospital concluded the occasion with a sincere expression of gratitude to the Chairman CDA, Executive Director of Capital Hospital, and all those who contributed to this historic occasion. DG Health was the honored guest for the occasion. He complimented the executive director and the entire team for their initiative in organizing such a productive session. Along with giving out shields and certificates to the attendees, he suggested Deen CDA Hospital for the Pride of Performance Award in recognition of his unwavering work in this admirable field. He went on to say that this workshop is a big step toward improving patient care and medical education in the area and toward a healthier future.
