Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Sukkur in collaboration with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle conducted a successful raid against a mobile phone company franchisee in Sukkur.
The franchisee was found to be involved in illegal SIM issuance. During the raid, 61 suspected SIM cards were found in the SIM warehouse and 6 active SIM cards registered under female CNICs were found through spot check. Apart from this, two individuals were arrested on the spot by the FIA team against whom an FIR was lodged. The FIA is intensively investigating the case.
The PTA filed a complaint with the FIA based on information regarding the illegal issuance of SIM cards by a sales channel. The raid reveals the authority’s determination to stamp out illegal SIM card issuance.
