In response to reports of illicit connections in six Lower Dir villages, Sui Northern Gas Malakand area launched a large operation that resulted in the disconnection of a 4.5 kilometer line. This line was being used to obtain more than 450 connections illegally, and gas was being taken. The villages of Damamu, Awlia Banda, Bandgai, Tangay, Nakhtaro Koto, and Shigai regions of Dir lower were the sites of the operation. The crews from Sui Gas from Swat, Batkhela, and Dir took part in this operation, according to Mirwais Khan, regional head of Sui Northern Gas Engineer’s Malakand Division.
He claimed that because of the residents’ persistent resistance, the operation had to be done early in the morning. During this time, 4.5 km of 4 inch pipe was unplugged, and all unauthorized connections were severed.
More than 450 unauthorized connections were made to this pipeline in these six villages, according to Engineer Mian Mirwais KHan, who also stated that criminal actions were conducted because gas was being consumed illegally and that gas worth Rs. 11 crore was being stolen.
“The details of the perpetrators are being collected and regular letters are being sent to the respective police stations for legal action against these persons.” He stated.
