KARACHI: Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Multan Sultans spin bowling coach Alex Hartley has confirmed that he will be fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
Hartley, a former England cricketer, is breaking barriers in the ongoing PSL 9 as she was a vital part of Multan’s success in qualifying for the finals to be played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18.
Hartley said all the players on the team are fasting, so she wanted to understand what it’s like and how they feel when they go into a game after fasting all day.
“It’s Ramadan and the guys are fasting. So I thought I really want to understand how they feel when they get into the game. I think it’s only fair that the players do that, so I should join them. fasting], Hartley told BBC 5 Live Sport.
She then went on to explain the challenges she faces in her daily routine due to fasting, admitting that it is “very difficult”.
“We just broke our fast after fasting all day. I had some dates and some salad. We can eat until 4am and then we don’t eat until 6.40pm the next day. It’s hard, so hard,” she explained.
“I go to bed at 4am and sleep during the day because our games start at 9pm at night,” she concluded.
Remember, Sultans became the first team to qualify for the finals of the ninth season of PSL after beating Peshawar Zalmi Babar Azam in the qualifiers on March 14.
Mohammad Rizwan’s men successfully chased down the 147-run target without much difficulty and qualified for their fourth consecutive final.
They will now face the winner of the second eliminator between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United in Karachi on Saturday.
