ISLAMABAD: NUST Atta Ur Rehman School of Applied Biological Sciences in collaboration with HGU Germany is organizing a Summer School on “Improving Mechanistic Understanding of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Measurement Techniques” from June 24 to 28.
According to a NUST official, the event is aimed at improving understanding of greenhouse gas emissions, focusing on the impact of agriculture and the potential of biochar technology to reduce emissions.
It supports commitments to share techniques, offers funded travel grants and covers greenhouse gas generation, advanced measurement, data analysis and teaching.
The program includes fully funded education, immersion in the German environmental landscape, networking opportunities, interactive sessions, field trips and teaching experiences in Pakistan.
The intensive program will offer a unique opportunity for early stage scientists, enrolled PhD students and agricultural professionals to gain knowledge on understanding greenhouse gas emissions and measurement techniques.
The official informed that preference will be given to applicants with degrees in Agroecology, Agronomy, Soil and Environmental Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Climate Change or relevant fields dealing with greenhouse gas emissions.
Applicants with demonstrated knowledge of the role of greenhouse gas emissions and atmospheric concentrations in global climate change and permanent employment (except PhD students) are expected to participate in the program to ensure a potential multiplier of knowledge gained from the summer school.
The applicant (must be a Pakistani national) would undertake to teach the lessons learned in Germany at the following Greenhouse Gas Summer School to be held in the last week of September 2024 in Pakistan at NUST and have demonstrated knowledge of conducting/completing relevant projects. choice.
