The hearing for the petition filed by citizen Ali Khan in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, seeking to declare the Feb 8 elections null and void, has been scheduled. The case will be heard by a three-member bench, with Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa presiding, on Feb 19. Justices Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Musarrat Hilali are also part of the bench. The petitioner has named the Election Commission of Pakistan and the federal government as respondents. Additionally, the petitioner has requested that the formation of a new government be halted and fresh elections be conducted within 30 days under the supervision of the judiciary. The petitioner has also urged the apex court to initiate an investigation into allegations of election rigging and take strict action against those involved in malpractice. In response to the alleged rigging, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam have staged protests nationwide.
