SWAT: Authorities of the Swat Consumer Court conducted operations against sellers of substandard items in Mingora city, and a large quantity of seized goods was disposed of. Yesterday, under the supervision of Assistant Director of Industries, Commerce, and Consumer Protection In-charge Asif Raza, and on the direction of the District and Sessions Judge, expired and substandard items seized during operations in Swat’s main city Mingora were disposed of at the District Government Dumping Ground. Representatives of the Consumer Court and the Environmental Protection Agency were also present on the occasion.
The items disposed of included counterfeit and substandard products, cartons of fake Glucose-D, hundreds of packets of fake cigarettes, expired perfumes, and substandard chips, which were seized during various operations from major dealers in Mingora city and surrounding areas. Speaking to the media on the occasion, Assistant Director of Industries, Commerce, and Consumer Protection Swat, Asif Raza Khan, said that the purpose of this operation is to protect consumers from the use of harmful and substandard products and to promote a culture of quality and accountability among businesses in Swat. Additionally, he emphasized that protecting consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act is a top priority and will not be compromised under any circumstances.
