PARIS: French Open champion Iga Swiatek cemented her place at the top of the women’s game with victory at Roland Garros and the No.
The 23-year-old Pole won his fourth French Open title on Saturday with a one-sided final victory over Assam Paoli, who now has a 3,707-point lead over wife Coco Gauff, who defeated him in the semi-finals in Paris.
In addition to Aryna Sabalenka for several weeks in the fall of 2023, Sviatek has hit the list for a total of 107 weeks since April 2022.
In 2023, Gauff’s improved performance in the quarterfinals allowed her to leapfrog Kazakh third seed Aryna Sabalenka.
Paoli’s run to his first Grand Slam final was enough to move eight places to his career-seventh, while 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva, who fell to Italy in the semi-finals, jumped 15 places from 38 to 23.
Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maya, who reached the semi-finals last year, finished sixth in 20th place after making the first round.
