Islamabad: Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said on Monday that the government has no intention to unilaterally issue a law to establish a digital media agency in the country.
Attaullah Tarar said while talking to the delegation of National Press Club (NPC) who met here, “All journalistic organizations and media clubs will be convinced of this issue.”
The minister assured the NPC delegation that a health insurance scheme for journalists would be launched soon.
Attaullah Tarar said that necessary steps will be taken to build a permanent building of NPC and upgrade the existing building.
The Minister assured that an annual grant would be provided for the NPC.
According to him, the government is also aware of the challenges faced by the administration of the National Press Club in improving the National Press Club.
The government has said it intends to ensure the provision of continuous grants to the NPC and said it will meet with the finance minister to discuss the issue of annual grants to the press club in the financial budget.
President Azhar Jatoi said that the government should consider the press club issue as a priority. He said, journalists now face many challenges.
Acting Secretary of State Aun Shirazi said Media Town Phase II is very important for the journalism community of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Shirazi said it would be an important step to ensure that the government ad pays workers on time.
Chief Information Officer Mobasher Hasan also attended the meeting.
Apart from that, NPC President Azhar Jatoi, Acting State Secretary Aun Shirazi, Finance Secretary Waqar Abbasi also attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by members of the NPC Board of Directors.
