LAHORE: Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has earned more than Rs 467 million on Patriata chairlift and glamping pods in fiscal year 2023-24, marking a major achievement in promoting tourism in Galyat Murree region.
Founded four years ago, glamping pods in the picturesque Patriata Top in New
Murree has become a major tourist attraction.
A TDCP spokesperson said here on Sunday that the modules suit the specific weather conditions of the area and offer modern residential facilities that attract many visitors thereby contributing significantly to revenue generation.
Nestled in the middle of the forest, these luxury glamping modules provide a unique combination of glamor and camping on one of the highest peaks of the Himalayas.
They offer a charming and wholesome environment that appeals to those seeking natural recreation. The boxes come in two configurations: double pods for two people and quad pods for four people. All are equipped with comfortable beds, blankets, tables, modern facilities and hot water, he added.
Apart from the glamping pods, he said the TDCP restaurant at Patriata Top attracts tourists by offering tasty, hygienic food at reasonable prices. The restaurant has a large hall for seating and dining tables under umbrellas among tall, shady trees in the courtyard, he said.
Under the management of TDCP, there are five double and three four-bed rooms available, which can accommodate a total of 22 people. The nightly rent is Rs.6000
four-bed module and Rs 4,000 for a two-bed module.
TDCP has also created a beautiful walking trail for tourists and there are shops with regional products and a mosque. Security personnel and TDCP
are on duty 24/7 to ensure the safety and comfort of guests, with iron fences and
barbed wire fences protecting tourists from wildlife. Under the supervision of TDCP’s General Manager of Operations, Wahid Arjumand Zia, the glamping pods, located 40 kilometers from Islamabad and at an altitude of 7,500 feet in the Himalayas, could be accessed by land route, chairlift and ropeway. This initiative not only offers unique recreational opportunities but also generates revenue for the department and provides a vital source of income for thousands of residents in the surrounding villages, he added.
