Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the funeral prayers of Captain Faraz Ilyas in Kasur, who was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district on Monday.
The funeral prayer was attended by Punjab Police Chief, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and several senior military officials, civil authorities and citizens. The Prime Minister also met the parents of the martyred soldiers and expressed their condolences.
The Prime Minister announced that our officer’s village has become a classic village and his name is “Faraz Ilyas Shaheed”. He assured the parents that their son’s sacrifice would not be in vain and prayed for the bereaved family to bear the loss with determination.
According to the teachings of the Quran, martyrs occupy a high place in holy places, the Prime Minister said, adding that many members of the armed forces have sacrificed their lives for their country. He also said that the nation is proud of its brave sons and will not succumb to the dogged determination of cowardly terrorists.
Separately, in X’s account, Chief Minister Lakki expressed deep grief about the martyrdom of army personnel, including a captain, in a targeted attack in Marwat.
“The sacrifice of our brave soldiers and citizens is our duty to pay by systematically eradicating terrorism from our nation. My condolences to the families who were left behind,” he said.

The late captain was buried with full military honors. The Prime Minister prayed and placed a wreath at his grave.
