Muzaffarabad: The Public Service Commission examined the Assistant Engineer Electrical BS-17 test on June 27th, 2024. It is yet to be decided whether the test was initially prepared for engineers or blindfolded candidates. When we compare two candidates one who had been doing hard work for months for this test and the other who didn’t bother preparing were both in the same situation on test day. One would ask how so. The answer to the floating question is clear the test has been prepared out of sheer negligence and the examiner ignored the very core concepts of the Power System. A major portion of the test was constituted of the Control system’s MCQs that are not part of the syllabus and numerical. As Electricity Department extended the syllabus to PSC encompassing 60 percent subject-related and 40 percent general intelligence. In the test, there was not a single MCQ given from general Intelligence, and a 60 percent syllabus that was constituted of Power Systems’ core areas has been overlooked. Given such circumstances, consequences were inevitable, candidates were tested on blind guessing instead of the true potential required for the prestigious post.
A group of engineers presided over by Aqib Ali had appeared in the test approached Public Purview Office and apprised about the whole situation. Aqib Ali added, “We have been waiting for PSC for 8 years and they overlooked the exam at best”. Another Engineer Huzaifa added, “Test time was restricted to 100 minutes for 100 MCQs, and there were around 20 questions that are alone taking 100 minutes to be solved”. Engineers are now demanding the test to be conducted again. They emphasized PSC to hold the test in compliance with the syllabus and practical practices observed in Power Systems. If PSC wouldn’t do it then Newly appointed Engineers will be appointed based on blind guessing rather than determining the true potential against said posts.
