The condition of government hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has not improved due to which they are facing difficulties in caring for emergency, general patients and patients suffering from epidemic diseases.
On the other hand with the change of weather malaria typhoid and other diseases have become epidemic in most cities of the province. Most of the elderly people and children have been affected by this and hundreds of people have died so far that have spread fear amongst the masses.
Recently according to a report published in a well-known website, epidemic diseases have broken out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and more than 70 thousand cases have been reported in a week. Health experts say that malaria has spread in most cities and villages of the province, which has affected up to 70,000 people in a week.
According to the weekly report issued by the provincial health department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa thousands of citizens of several districts are suffering from various epidemic diseases and last week only 34 thousand 701 cases of cholera were reported from across the province.
The report stated that 8 thousand 19 people were affected by malaria in the province during the same period. 8 thousand 320 people are suffering from various diseases due to bites, while 9 thousand 951 cases of rash diseases have been reported from different districts of the province in a week.
Similarly, 5 thousand 802 citizens are suffering from respiratory disease, 3 thousand 636 citizens are suffering from influenza. One thousand 324 people have been diagnosed with pneumonia, 761 people with typhoid. Experts have instructed the patients to get full treatment for typhoid, otherwise other parts of their body may be damaged but
It has become impossible for them to buy expensive medicines.
Meanwhile the deadly disease of monkey pox has also sounded the alarm for the citizens. In a report it has been said that due to the carelessness more people could be affected from that deadly disease. This is the reason that passengers coming and going at the airport and international and inter-provincial borders are being closely monitored. thus in all hospitals, including the Lady Reading Hospital of the provincial capital Peshawar, it has been made mandatory to conduct a MP pox test for patients admitted for the treatment of severe fever and malaria, and no patient is allowed to leave without undergoing the said test. Accordingly these measures have been taken for timely treatment of the disease and to prevent its further spread.
Separate units have been set up for such suspected patients but in general the treatment of patients in the government hospitals is very humiliating due to which despite the measures taken by the provincial government, such as issuing the health card the hospitals Patients coming to me are facing many difficulties.
In particular the patients who come to the emergency unit of Lady Reading, the largest hospital in the province, are facing a lot of difficulties. According to the patients the emergency unit is being run very slowly in the OPD style.
The biggest drawback of this system is that the distance between the admission slip counter and the emergency ward is very long due to which the patients and its attendants have to face a lot of difficulties. Apart from this sections of plaster and ointment have also been made at a considerable distance. If a patient is not accompanied by a relative or there are women with the patient, then the said hospital is no less than a nightmare for him. Due to this situation most of the citizens leave the treatment of their patients incomplete and take them to private hospitals in the city, which the provincial government needs to pay attention. It has also become inevitable to implement emergency measures for epidemics spreading in the province. If timely measures are not taken for the patients not only the deaths will increase but also the urgency on government hospitals will increase.
Hence there is a need for the government to make new announcements as well as to improve the existing system so that citizens can restore their trust in government hospitals. It is hoped that Provincial Health Minister will take steps on a war footing in view of the said situation.
