Beijing: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in China on Monday for an official visit, where his ministry said he wanted to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries after Russia intervened in Ukraine.
Moscow’s Foreign Ministry said Lavrov had touched down in Beijing on Monday morning in an earlier tweet.
According to the previous information from the ministry, he will meet with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing for two days.
Referring to the “Ukrainian crisis and the situation in the Asia-Pacific region”, he said that “a certain amount” of “deep discussion” is expected on the burning topic.
The ministry said the two men would “discuss various issues related to bilateral cooperation, as well as cooperation on the international scene.”
China and Russia have deepened diplomacy in recent years, using their nascent bonhomie to counter the West-led US.
