Two Pakistan Army personnel and five civilians were martyred in a terrorist attack on the Rural Health Center (RHC) in Kirri Shamozai area of Dera Ismail Khan district.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on the night of July 15 and 16, terrorists attacked the Kirri Shamozai RHC. The assailants indiscriminately opened fire on the health centre staff, killing five civilians, including two lady health workers, two children, and one watchman.
Security forces in the vicinity swiftly mobilized and initiated a clearance operation at the RHC. In the ensuing exchange of fire, the security forces successfully eliminated three terrorists. However, the intense firefight also claimed the lives of two soldiers. They were identified as Naib Subedar Muhammad Farooq and Sepoy Muhammad Javed Iqbal.
Naib Subedar Muhammad Farooq, aged 44, hailed from Narowal district. He served the country for 25 years, leaving behind a grieving family comprising his wife, two daughters, and two sons. Sepoy Muhammad Javed Iqbal, aged 23, from Khanewal district, had served in the Pakistan Army for three years and is survived by his parents and siblings.
The area was sanitized to ensure no remaining terrorists posed a threat. The authorities have vowed to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice, condemning the attack on innocent civilians, especially women and children, as cowardly and despicable.
On the other hand, eight army personnel were martyred and 10 terrorists killed in a recent attack on the Bannu Cantonment. According to ISPR, the armed forces’ media wing, the security forces foiled a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment when 10 terrorists attempted to breach its defences on the morning of July 15.
The terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into one of the walls of the cantonment, however, the forces foiled the terrorists’ attempt to enter the area, the ISPR stated, adding that a wall was destroyed in the attack.
Moreover, eight security personnel were martyred in the attack.
