The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Standing Committee on Ministerial Cooperation in Science and Technology (COMSTECH) plans to hold a two-week training course on “Disaster Resilience Structures” from April 22 to May 3.
The course will be organized by COMSTECH, Russian Association for Earthquake Engineering and Environmental and Human Hazards (RAEE) in collaboration with NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan.
According to a COMSETCH official, this joint initiative aims to improve disaster resilience and engineering skills. The course will cover a range of hazards such as earthquakes, floods, fires and tsunamis, with a focus on developing a deeper understanding of the risks to infrastructure, communities and society.
Leading experts in this field from Russia and Pakistan will share their knowledge and experience with the participants. This course will explore mitigation strategies and develop sustainable development principles.
The course content and methodology is designed to provide a deeper understanding of these hazardous risks to infrastructure, communities, and society, and disaster-resilient and hazard-resilient engineering strategies.
Candidates with Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering can apply for this course. The target audience for this study includes teachers from Pakistan, Russia and other OIC countries. Approximately 30-40 participants are expected to take advantage of this valuable learning opportunity.
NED University of Engineering and Technology will generously provide airport pick-up and drop-off services, accommodation and meals during the study period in Karachi.
