ISLAMABAD: The US Embassy in Islamabad organized a graduation ceremony for 100 women from the fifth cohort of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) on Friday. As of 2020, AWE has mentored over 330 Pakistani women to start and scale their businesses.
Ambassador Donald Blome delivered inspiring remarks at the ceremony, congratulating the graduates and emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship in promoting economic growth and stability, according to a news release.

Ambassador Blome also emphasized the broader societal benefits of supporting women entrepreneurs, saying, “The United States strongly believes that expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs leads to a more stable society. When women entrepreneurs succeed, they are more likely to invest back into their families and communities—in education, nutrition, well-being and children’s health.”
According to a recent survey of participants in the AWE cohort of 2023, the program had a significant impact on them, with 98 percent of graduates reporting increased personal and professional skills.
Sponsored by the U.S. State Department, the AWE program empowers women entrepreneurs around the world by providing them with the skills, knowledge, and mentorship needed to build successful businesses.
