Former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul on Wednesday apologized to batsman Shadab Khan, who was injured in the 2023 ICC World Cup match against South Africa.
Shadab was replaced with a concussion in the aforementioned match after hitting his head on the pitch.
“We don’t know how he was injured, but when you fall, say you have a concussion, run away from the team and leave, there are questions. Physio checks you and after a while, you are discharged. You talk to people there and then you leave. If the game becomes tougher and you realize that it will benefit us, you will be happy to sit there.
However, Gul insisted that he apologized to Shadab for his remarks after the PSL.
“I immediately went to [Shadab] after the PSL because the actual incident was two concussions in one year and the third time was during the World Cup. The doctor advised him to rest to avoid serious consequences.” Rose told a local cricket website.
‘So I said it for our team’s request, but Shadab is a very good man and we have a good relationship, our family has a good relationship, but I feel what he said is clear and I apologize to Shadab for that.’
Recently, Shadab was a Pakistan Super League (PSL) champion for Islamabad United for nine seasons.
