The 3-day workshop was held as part of the PAFAID Project (Food and Agro-Industry Development Assistance Project) implemented by UNIDO and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Presented by Samuel Godefroy, Professor of Food Risk Analysis and Regulatory Policy at Laval University and former Director General of the Food Directorate of the Canadian Federal Ministry of Health.
The workshop covers the key functions of food governance, focusing on reviewing practices related to managing food trade operations in ways that enhance consumer protection and contribute to best practices in food consumption in Pakistan. by local food producers.
The workshop discussed the collaborative nature of the food safety regulatory function and the need to develop a culture of compliance among food manufacturers in Pakistan.
Participants conducted a SWOT analysis of their performance in the food regulatory function and developed recommendations for greater federal / provincial / regional collaboration and capacity building for food regulatory science, as well as strengthening food safety management-making decisions. In Pakistan. They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a predictable, transparent, collaborative and evidence-based food regulatory environment in their respective provinces and fostering partnerships with the food industry and other stakeholders in Pakistan.
