Anthony Edwards scored a team-high 26 points as the United States beat Puerto Rico 104-83 on Saturday to finish the group stage undefeated in the Olympics.
Team USA is chasing its fifth straight gold at the Games and will discover its quarterfinal opponents once the draw is made after the match between Serbia and South Sudan.
The USA found themselves in a tight game midway through the second quarter, but pulled back to lead by 19 at halftime in Lille.
The margin widened in the third period and Joel Embiid made a confident return to the lineup after being benched for the win over South Sudan.
He finished with 15 points as coach Steve Kerr rotated his players. Six scored in double figures, including Kevin Durant (11) and LeBron James (10).
“We’re here for one single goal, and that’s to win gold,” James said.
“We know it will be very difficult, but… we look forward to the challenge.
Serbia beat South Sudan 96-85 to pull the curtain down on the group stage with Atlanta Hawks goaltender Bogdan Bogdanovic leading the way with 30 points.
