SWAT: Experts emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) boasts a wealth of resources, including agriculture, tourism, and the youth sectors, all of which should be strategically leveraged through contemporary and innovative approaches and by doing so, the sectors could yield enhanced benefits, ultimately propelling the country towards a path of advancement and prosperity here on Thursday in Swat district.
“The one-day workshop titled “Digital Innovation Next Generation” for the youth of the Malakand division was organized by USAID’s Economic Development and Rehabilitation Program, where hundreds of youths from the region
showcased their works, teachers and animation trainers also participated in the event.
USAID Program for Economic Development and Rehabilitation Chief of Party Shad Muhammad Khan said on the occasion that the objective of the workshop was to promote and encourage information technology, games development, and animation among the youth of the Malakand region and to encourage them to take up information technology, games development, and animation as a business.
“In KP, most people live in the rural areas and depend on farming to make a living. But there’s not enough farmland, and it’s getting even scarcer. However, in some parts of KP, like Swat Valley, we have beautiful natural places where we can use innovative farming techniques to get more out of our little land,” he said.
He further said that KP was rich in valuable things like marble and minerals and we can use modern ideas and technology to make the mining and processing of these resources better and even export them.
“Tourism was another big deal in KP, where many people visited because of the dazzling natural beauty,” he maintained, added that we want to help the tourism and hospitality industry because it’s one of the top three ways we make money,”
He further said that KP has many young people who’ve finished their university studies and we want to get them started in good jobs from the beginning, like working with computers and technology and things like artificial intelligence and digital stuff.
“An awareness and networking session was also organized for the students on this occasion to link the students and game developers with the large market of Pakistan.”
Students from Malakand University and Swat University appreciated the efforts of USAID in organizing the program.
On this occasion, USAID Program for Economic Development and Rehabilitation Chief of Party Shahid Muhammad Khan assured the academy, experts and students that they would continue to support them in small businesses, IT sector, gaming, and animation so that the country’s development and they could play their role in prosperity.
