News: Famous sprinter and eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt may be best known for setting records on the track, but his love of sports extends beyond athletics.
Growing up in Jamaica, Bolt watched cricket with his father and developed a deep appreciation for the game and its famous players.
In a recent interview with the Press Trust of India (PTI), Bolt made an unforgettable impression when he saw handsome Pakistani wrestler Wasim Akram.
“One of my favorites over the years has been Wasim Akram,” Bolt said.
Bolt’s admiration for cricket is not limited to international stars. He recalls the dominance of Caribbean cricket legends like Courtney Walsh and Kurtley Ambrose.
“Obviously, Courtney Walsh and Kurtley Ambrose, all people I’ve admired over the years, they dominate their space,” he said.
Bolt’s loyalties have always been with the West Indies, a team he continues to support.
However, his admiration for the cricket legend extends beyond the Caribbean. Bolt is also a fan of Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar.
“Yes, I am also a fan of Sachin Tendulkar. He and Brian Lara are a part of my life. This is a great rivalry,” he said.
Notably, Bolt joined other cricket stars and New York sports icons on Wednesday for a special visit to the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
