RAWALPINDI: Pakistani footballer Usama Mir, who is currently representing Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9, has revealed that working on his bowling action has helped him a lot in recent months. Mir stated that after playing T20 cricket for so long, when ODIs came around, he had to change his bowling action a bit to adapt to the format, which affected his performance.
“When the ODIs came, I had to adjust my action to be able to bowl slow balls, I think that affected my performance in the World Cup,” said Mir. “Yes, the World Cup performance affected my confidence, but I learned from my mistakes. “I couldn’t figure out the mistakes I was making and kept repeating them.
After some time I realized that I was not completing my action, which I corrected,” he added. The 28-year-old then talked about the ongoing PSL 9 and said that Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam’s takeover was an unforgettable moment which was also his favourite. “I have taken 18 wickets in the PSL so far, but Babar Azam’s wicket was by far the best,” said the Sialkot native.
“The way [Babar] is playing, it looks like he wouldn’t get along with anybody. He then talked about the ongoing season of Multan Sultans and stated that the team will try their best to continue and become champions after failing in two consecutive finals. “We hope to maintain the same momentum in the remaining PSL matches,” he said. “We’ve lost two consecutive finals, this time we’re going to be champions.”
