Peshawar: Speakers at an awareness seminar held at Peshawar Agricultural University on Tuesday highlighted the use of modern agricultural technology and modern practices to protect crops from seasonal effects and diseases.
Growers are advised to take precautions to protect fruit crops from weather conditions and various diseases, and farmers should contact agronomists from time to time to avoid crop damage.
The Department of Plant Pathology conducted a seminar on “Cryptic endoparasitic nematode species controlled by systemic nematicide Vaniva 450 SC in citrus, tomato, cucumber and romaine”.
Dr. Ishrat Naz, who has completed two research projects funded by Syngenta Pakistan Limited, “Citrus Nematode Control” and “Identification of Seeds and Soilborne Pathogens associated with Wheat in different Divisions of Pakistan”, said the project focused on nematode control. affecting a variety of crops and increasing the awareness of farmers about the management of these pests.
The introduction of the new nematicide, Vaniva 450 SC said that the dual-action systemic product has been proven effective against nematodes and pathogenic fungi in the soil and plant roots without adversely affecting crop yield or soil microflora.
Research and field tests Dr. Ishrat Naz has demonstrated its effectiveness in lemon, tomato and cucumber farms, increasing crop productivity without affecting soil health.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Jahan Baght praised Dr Ishrat Naz’s dedication and emphasized the importance of using modern agricultural technology and practices to increase crop and fruit production.
