ISLAMABAD: More than 1.126 million metric tons of vegetables worth $430.055 million were exported during the financial year ended June 30, 2024, compared to exports of 1.336 million metric tons worth $300 million in the corresponding period last year.
Between July and June 2024, the country’s vegetable exports increased by 43.20 percent compared to exports during the same period last year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Meanwhile, fruit exports increased by 21.31 percent as more than 935,631 metric tons of fresh fruits worth $343.532 million were also exported during the last financial year compared to exports of 627,133 metric tons worth $283.188 million in the same period last year. year.
During the financial year ending June 30, 2024, total food group exports grew by 46.77 percent as food commodities worth $7.369 billion were exported compared to exports of $5.021 billion in 2022-23. On the other hand, food goods worth 7.903 billion were imported during the financial year 2023-24 compared to imports of 8.936 billion during the same period of the financial year 2022-23.
