Veteran actor Talat Hussain passes away at 83

KARACHI: Veteran actor Talat Hussain passed away in Karachi after prolonged illness, Karachi Arts Council President Ahmed Shah confirmed on Sunday.
Shah said he was informed about the actor’s death by his daughter Tazeen Hussain. His funeral prayer will be offered at Masjid-e-Ayesha in Defense Phase 7 after the Asr prayers.
Born in September 1940 in Delhi, India, the renowned thespian was married to Professor Rakhshanda Hussain and was the father of three – two daughters and one son.
Hussain, studied at the London Academy of Music and Drama and was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 2021 and the Pride of Performance Award in 1982 by the Government of Pakistan.
Hussain has left an indelible mark on Pakistan’s showbiz industry, from exquisite dramas to insightful writing.
He had a decades-long career in acting, singing and art. He also sometimes worked for the BBC in London.
Shah, expressed grief over Hussain’s death.
“It is a very incredible situation. Mr. Talat was a member of the arts council and also remained its vice-chairman. He was a man of literature because he read and wrote books most of his life.”
Condolences are pouring in
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the death of the veteran actor and offered condolences to his family.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said that Hussain’s services to television, theater and radio will always be remembered, adding that the void created by his death will never be filled.
Acting President Yousuf Raza Gilani said Hussain’s invaluable services to the arts will always be remembered.
Actor Behroze Sabzwari told Geo News that Hussain was a great personality. “He was our teacher, but we also had a friendship, which is our privilege. I knew him from a very young age.”
Sabzwari said he was a great actor and had a very distinctive style. He was also part of the theater and taught at NAPA, he added.
He was a great person,” Sabzwari said. He also recalled that his voice was amazing.
Actor Bushra Ansari took to Instagram to express his condolences. “What a loss,” she wrote in her post.
She praised his voice and said that Hussain spoke beautifully. Actor Adnan Siddiqui, who joined X, said, “Talat Hussain sahib leaving is like a personal loss. He was not there as a co-actor but a guiding force when I did my first ever play, Khwabon Ki Zanjir. Another of the plays. the greats are gone .”
