South Waziristan: District Police Officer South Waziristan Lower Farman Ullah told Dawn on Sunday that the issue of confiscation of two vehicles full of non-custom paid tires was amicably resolved with the tire owners.
According to the report, after the protest of the tire owners, negotiations with the district administration and police through local political leaders were successful after four days.
DPO South Waziristan Lower Farman Ullah has said that the police have dispatched vehicles to send 129 pairs of tires to Customs Headquarters Dera Ismail Khan, DPO said while the total value of the tires is 38 lakh rupees.
DPO Farman Ullah added that two pick-up vehicles full of non-custom paid tires were taken into custody by the police at Karab Kot area two weeks ago.
It may be remembered that a few days ago, tire owners had protested on Wana Azamwarsak Road against the seizure of tyres.
Police fired in the air to disperse the protesters, in which one person was slightly injured.
On this occasion, the police took action against the protesters and detained six people who were transferred to the City Police Station.
This is very important here, among the arrested persons, district President of PPP Aman Ullah Wazir, ANP leader Khan Muhammad and chief Malik Tariq Wazir, besides three shopkeepers were also in jail, which later released them.
Meanwhile, the local political leaders held talks with the district administration and police for four consecutive days to resolve the issue.
After the negotiations were successful, the tire owners agreed to hand over the tires to the customs authorities
