ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Water and Power Development Corporation (WAPDA) has signed a contract worth Rs. Investment of $46.5 million in Quality Solutions Technologies (QST) (Pvt) Ltd to provide consultancy services for digitizing key rocks in the area directly affected by the Diamer Basha Dam and to model and prepare the data sheet for 3D printing.
The main service includes storage and modeling of scanned data for various applications, as well as on-site recording and ground equipment integration. The contract is for eight months, according to a press release Wednesday.
At the ceremony held a few days ago, Diamer Basha Dam Project (WAPDA) Project Manager Nazakat Hussain and Business Development Development Quality Director Saad Ahmed Khan signed the contract on behalf of their organizations.
Member (Water) WAPDA Jawaid Akhtar Latif, Diamer Basha Dam Company CEO Amir Bashir Chaudhry, WAPDA Cultural Heritage Management Consultant Feryal Ali Gauhar and Diamer Basha Dam Project Chief Engineer (Contractual) Abdur Rashid were also present at the event.
Diamer Basha Dam project under construction in northern Pakistan is a rich heritage treasure with many stone carvings.
WAPDA is implementing a cultural management plan in the Diamer Basha Dam region in order to fulfill its national and international responsibilities in this regard.
The aim is to preserve prehistoric rock carvings and inscriptions buried in the Diamer Basha Dam reservoir, build a museum and promote cultural tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan, especially Chilas and its suburbs. < br> The Cultural Heritage Management Plan of the Diamubasa Dam Project proposes the digital storage of 175-200 of the most important stones representing different periods of history and beauty.
