Wazir tribes held second Grand Jirga held to solve Angoor Ada border issue

All political parties withdraw from Waziristan Olasi Pason, conditional support for Angoor Ada sit-in

South Waziristan: The second Grand Jirga of 9 major tribes of Ahmad Zai Wazir was held in Wana Rustam Bazar of Lower South Waziristan District on Monday to make Pak-Afghan border with Afghanistan the biggest trade route of the region.

Addressing the Jirga, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam District President Maulana Mirza Jan, Malik Saeed Ullah, Malik Jameel, Malik Saidra Noor and Waziristan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Saif Ur r Rehman said in their respective addresses that due to the suspension of commercial and business activities on the Angoor Ada border, the tribes here have lost billions.

They said at the same time, billions of rupees have reached the government treasury after the end of commercial and business activities at the border crossing.

The leading elders of 9 tribes said that all the tribes should take concrete steps to increase the trade activities on the Angoor Ada border and to continue the Pak-Afghan trade permanently, so that our future generations can benefit from this trade route.

They emphasized in the Jirga that Ahmad Zai Wazir’s tribes should not be satisfied with taking only temporary measures this time rather, such steps must be taken unanimously, that the unemployment and poverty here will end.

They agreed while passing a resolution that in the future those who disturb the Pak-Afghan trade activities will be dealt with iron hands, so that no one dares to put up any more obstacles.

Ahmad Zai Wazir, the leading elders announced to convene the third Grand Jirga on Saturday to finalize the decisions of the Jirga.

On this occasion all the elders and Ullamas appealed to Ahmad Zai Wazir tribes to fully participate in the Grand Jirga on Saturday.

On the other hand, a protest sit-in by the local tribes has been going on for the last five months at the Angoor Ada border.
Sit-in participants say that some of our legitimate demands, so the government should take steps to fulfill them.

Participants said, that the nonfunctional health centers and schools established here should be made functional.
Mobile network signal and net facility should be provided.
According to the sit-in participants, the government should take concrete steps to provide electricity for the local people.
Sit-in participants said however, the local tribes should be allowed to carry hand carry at Angoor Ada border.

Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan Lower Nasir Khan says about this that most of the demands of the participants of the ongoing sit-in at Angoor Ada border have been fulfilled by the district administration.

DC further said however, hand carry is not allowed at any other borders, due to which it cannot be allowed here at Angoor Ada border either.

Meanwhile, An important meeting of all the political parties of South Waziristan Lower district was held at Wana district office of Jamaat-e-Islami on Monday.

In which South Waziristan Lower Awami National Party, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, National Democratic Movement, Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party and lawyers participated.

The political parties were represented by Ayaz Wazir, Ashfaq Wazir, Imran Mukhlis, Asghar Wazir, Nadeem Amir, Khayal Mohammad, Ziaul Haq, Hamayun, Haroon and Ajmal Khan Advocate.
On this occasion a unanimous resolution was presented in this important meeting, that Waziristan Wana Olasi Paswan was the need of the hour which was only an agenda for peace.

They said now the rule of law and constitution has been restored to some extent in Lower South Waziristan district, so all political parties are not a part of Waziristan Olasi Pason and after today, political parties and other organizations should refrain from using Olwsi Pason’s name.
In the ongoing statement of the political parties, it has been said that the political parties have made sacrifices for peace in the South Waziristan Lower district and they will not hesitate to make any sacrifice in the future.

According to the ongoing statement of the political parties, they will continue to struggle for legal trade, education, health, agriculture, forests and rule of law.

The statement added that will continue to conditionally support the ongoing sit-in at Angoor Ada border and will not support any illegal and unconstitutional demands.

The political parties have made it clear in the statement that the Jirga will be considered an official Jirga without political representation.

They said this Jirga will not be called National Jirga but Government Jirga.
Political parties have strongly demanded from the provincial government, federal government and district administration in their ongoing statement that Angoor Ada border should be given the status of a transit route so that trade can be further promoted.

Political leaders have said that local people should be allowed without hindrance all legal facilities should be provided to trade professionals.

The political parties have also demanded this from the government in their ongoing statement that all the line departments including Judiciary should be shifted from Tank District to South Waziristan Lower District as soon as possible.

They said all powers should be delegated to the civil administration and illegal and unconstitutional interference should be stopped.
