Islamabad: Weekly inflation, as measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), decreased by 0.34 percent for the aggregate consumer group during the week ended May 23, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported on Friday.
According to PBS data, SPI for the week under review in the aforementioned group was recorded at 308.19 points compared to 309.25 points during the previous week.
Compared to the corresponding week last year, the SPI for the aggregate consumer group increased by 21.31 percent in the week under review. Weekly SPI with base year 2015-16 = 100 covers 17 urban centers and 51 major items for all expenditure groups.
SPI for the lowest consumption group up to 17,732 rubles decreased by 0.38 percent to 298.56 points from last week’s 299.70 points.
SPI for consumption group 17,732-22,888, 22,889-29,517 rubles; Those above $29,518-$44,175 and $44,175 were down 0.39 percent, 0.35 percent, 0.36 percent, and 0.33 percent respectively.
During the week, 12 (23.53%) of 51 items increased in price, 18 (35.29%) decreased in price and 21 (41.18%) remained stable.
Items that recorded an average weekly price drop include garlic (7.87%), chicken (5.92%), wheat flour (4.66%), LPG (3.23%), onion (1.99 %). , eggs (1.22%), broken basmati rice (1.12%), masor pulse (0.95%), bran (0.84%) and wood (0.04%).
Commodities that recorded an average price increase during the week include beef (0.49%), energy saving (0.44%), pulse gram (0.42%), milk powder (0.37%), processed tea ( 0.30%). ), lamb (0.25%), wheat (0.22%), clothing (0.17%), tobacco (0.13%), plum (0.11%) and fresh milk (0.06%) .
Commodities that witnessed a decline include bananas (38.32%), wheat flour (30.82%), chicken (23.18%), cooking oil 5 liters (18.83%), beef oil 1 kg (16.07% ). , vegetable ghee 2.5 kg (16.02%), mustard oil (12.49%), LPG (10.92%) and eggs (7.62%).
