MUZAFFARGARH: A woman was tortured to death allegedly by her in-laws due to delay in preparing food here at Kot Sultan Korywali village, Layyah on Tuesday.
The Kot Sultan police registered a case of murder on the complaint of Abdul Majeed, uncle of the victim, Parveen Bibi.
Reports said that Parveena’s husband Muhammad Yusuf along with his brothers Muhammad Ejaz, Muhammad Younis and Nadar allegedly tortured her and asked why she delayed preparing food.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspects brutally beat Parveen Bibi with sticks, as a result of which she fell unconscious. In a critical condition, she was shifted from the tehsil main hospital to the district headquarters hospital and then to Nishtar hospital in Multan, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The complainant, Majeed, stated that an autopsy was conducted after her death. Layyah District Police Officer Asadur Rehman claimed that the suspects would be arrested, saying that violence against women would not be tolerated and a special team had been formed to investigate the case.
