Mardan: The Board of Directors (BoD) of Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM) unanimously elected Engineer Adil Nawaz as the Chairman of the BoD. They also elected Haroon-ur-Rasheed as the Chairman of the Human Resource, Nomination, and Procurement Committee, Mubina Raziuddin as the Chairman of the Finance Committee, and Javed Hussain as the Chairman of the Audit Committee. Deputy Secretary Finance Sardar Bahadur Khan, Deputy Secretary Local Government Zahid Masood, and Assistant Commissioner Buraq Awan also attended.
Addressing the BoD meeting, the newly elected Chairman, Engineer Adil Nawaz, thanked the Board of Directors for his nomination and assured that their confidence would not be shacked regarding service delivery and wellbeing of the company and citizens of Mardan. He stated that the company provides safe drinking water three times a day to five thousand consumers in Mardan city. The operational cost for one connection is two thousand four hundred (2400) rupees per month, but the company is only collecting two hundred and ten (210) rupees from consumers while the provincial government provides a subsidy of two thousand two hundred (2200) rupees per connection. He emphasized to ensure the use of safe drinking water in protecting the citizens from many water borne diseases. Engineer Adil Nawaz also highlighted that providing the best services to the citizens with scarce resources is the utmost priority of provincial government and all possible steps will be taken to achieve this goal. He urged the citizens to help wsscm to make Mardan a model city in terms of cleanliness and safe drinking water.
During the meeting, Engineer Imran Zaman, General Manager of WSSCM, gave a detailed briefing on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project. He stated that under this project, a sewage treatment plant will be established for six union councils of Mardan city, which will address all the issues pertain to sewerage in Bicket Gunj and Bari Cham on permanent basis. The Board of Directors expressed satisfaction upon the briefing and acknowledged the significant improvement in the cleanliness of Mardan city due to unprecedented and tireless efforts of the sanitation staff.
