BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping has highlighted significant efforts to better serve and support former military personnel before the country celebrates Army Day.
This year’s Army Day, which falls on August 1, is the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
In a briefing on veterans’ affairs, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, described former service members.
He said Veterans Affairs plays an important role in strengthening and revitalizing the armed forces. He also called for further reforms to better serve former employees and protect their rights and interests.
