SWAT: The Young Teachers Association announced a sit-in in front of the KP Assembly on December 27 against the government’s decision to cancel the pension. All teachers organizations across the province will participate in the protest.
These views were expressed by Young Teachers Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President, Attaur Rahman along with other officials Akhtar Hussain and Humayun Mahboob while holding a press conference at Swat press club here on Sunday.
Mr. Attaur Rahman said that 34,000 teachers were appointed across the province with hope, but now in the name of pension reforms, an attempt is being made to terminate the pension of these teachers, which we do not accept in any way.
He said that the former PTI government had implemented a law to abolish the pension of newly recruited teachers while changing the service structure, but we had protested in front of Bani Gala and as a result, the provincial assembly had restored the pension of all the teachers recruited till June 2022, added that It is sad that now there is a caretaker government and yet the AG office has stopped the pension of all these 34,000 teachers through an illegal order.
“We will stage a sit-in in front of the KP assembly in Peshawar on December 27 against this cruel decision of the AG office and this protest will continue till now.until our demands are accepted,” he concluded.
