LAHORE: T20 World Cup-winning Pakistan captain Younis Khan believes that the team’s top players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman have increased their scoring rate in the middle half of T20I matches.
Speaking to the media, Isunis said that it is important to maintain a run rate of 8 to 9 all the time in the middle stages after a strong match.
“If a team scores 200 runs, they can save the game, 170 is not enough,” Isunis said.
“Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Rizwan need to step into the next gear. Nowadays, more runs can be scored quickly and it is the responsibility of the players to play aggressively,” he said.
Isunis also stressed the importance of players adapting to any situation with bats and bowlers ready to step into the game at any time.
“The captain has to think out of the box and the players have to go out of the comfort zone together. Every player has to help the captain; don’t leave everything to one person because you can’t plan for just one person. ,” he said.
Incidentally, Pakistan will play their first T20I against Ireland on Friday. The remaining two matches will be played on Sunday and Tuesday before the four-match T20I series against England.
