FAISALABAD: In a bid to empower women, the Faisalabad Police has introduced the first all-female ‘Dolphin Squad’ in the district.
The first-of-its-kind all-female squad in Faisalabad will perform duties previously overseen by male officers.
Dolphin Squad aims to significantly empower women across the country by fighting street crime and those who disturb the peace in the city.
In order to be equipped for this task, female officers have undergone special training in the handling of heavy 500cc and automatic weapons that help them perform their duties.
A group of all-female dolphins will work alongside their male counterparts. The team will include 500 female commandos and will be responsible for setting up roadblocks and conducting quick checks on the streets of Faisalabad.
The Faisalabad CPO announced that the all-female Dolphin Squad will be deployed initially to patrol public places where women are present in large numbers, such as universities and markets.
This will give women on duty and on errands a sense of ease and will allow them to comfortably share their problems – if any – in public places with the Dolphin Women’s Squad.
