Peshawar: Awami National Party (ANP) on Monday said that it is against Azm-e-Istehkam and said that the operation is not acceptable under any circumstances.
Yesterday, Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) also announced their refusal to support the military operation and demanded that the military leaders first get the confidence of the Parliament.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi visited ANP Bacha Khan headquarters in Peshawar and met top party leaders to discuss security and political issues.
ANP leader Mian Iftikhar said in a press conference that terrorism is rooted in Punjab and strongly opposes Pakistan’s decision to launch Operation Reinforcement.

Mian said that the ANP has conveyed their concerns to the governor.
He criticized the operation as a unilateral decision and said there was a lack of trust in negotiations and military action among the public. He asked on whose orders General Faiz initiated the talks and how 40,000 terrorists entered the country.
After that, Iftikhar urged the national and provincial assemblies to believe in the operation.
ANP leaders announced that the party will hold an All Parties Conference (APC) to discuss Operation Strengthen Pakistan in detail.
Parliament is supreme in the constitution, PTI chief Barrister Gohar said against the operation yesterday.
“We cannot support any military operation without the participation of the parliament. Important decisions are taken without consulting the opposition,” said Asad Qaiser.
