ISLAMABAD: Azerbaijan’s envoy, Khazar Farhadov, stated that 2024 has been designated as the “Green World Fortitude Year” in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and that the COP29 Global Environment Meeting would be held in Baku in December.
He was the principal visitor at the unusual environmental summit. In collaboration with COPAIR (Focus of Pakistan and Worldwide Relations), the Focal Point of Environment Strategy organized a stimulating roundtable discussion on the topic “Molding the upcoming Flexibility.”
The event aimed to shed light on the important and immediate challenges posed by environmental change, as well as the importance of collective consideration and coordinated action.
Minister Farhadov stated that Leader of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed a request to declare 2024 as the “Green World Fortitude Year” in the country.
“The primary pillars of our ongoing energy strategy revolve around the advancement of efficient power energy and its application to global commercial sectors. Freed Karabakh and East Zangezur, as well as the Nakhchivan Independent Republic, have been designated as environmentally beneficial power energy zones, he said.
The ambassador stated that climate security remained vital to the extensive reclamation and rebuilding operations unfolding in the freed domains. Creative approaches, such as “savvy city” and “shrewd town,” are used there to contribute to environmental restoration.
He revealed insight into the impact of conflicts on the climate, stating that Armenia’s three-decade occupancy of Azerbaijani domains had a significant negative impact on the biological system, wild species, and regular assets.
He informed the administration that Azerbaijan’s goal is for sustainable power to account for 30% of total power generation by 2030 and to reduce ozone depleting chemical outflows by 30% from 1990 levels by 2030 and 40% by 2050.
He emphasized that the country is aggressive in carrying out its environmental responsibilities and intends to strengthen multi-horizontal partnerships and global collaboration, as seen by plans to trade 4GW of sustainable power to Europe via Dark Ocean.
The event was attended by Bilal Anwar, President of NDMRF, Zulekha (NDMA), Usman Manzur (Program Official, UNDP), Aftab Alam Khan (Chief of Versatile Future Global), Dr. Usman Mustafa (Counselor on Economy and SDGs), and Dr. Fozia Kanwal (POODA).
President COPAIR Amna Munawar Awan thanked the focal point of environment strategy for spearheading this endeavor and expressed confidence that the outcomes of our discussions will serve as a roadmap for informed direction and engagement in the realm of environmental strength.
