DHAKA: The Bangladesh men’s cricket team will arrive in Pakistan soon to prepare for two ICC World Test Championship matches in Rawalpindi and Karachi from August 21-25 and August 30-September 3, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Saturday ).
The Bangladeshi team was originally scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on August 17, but will now land in Lahore on August 13 morning.
The team will train at the Gaddafi Stadium from 14 to 16 August and then travel to Islamabad on 17 August for training sessions at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 18 to 20 August.
The PCB has urged the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to send its squad earlier to ensure that they have adequate and fair training opportunities ahead of the ICC World Test Championship matches.
“Sports is not just about winning and losing, it’s also about camaraderie. I remain confident that further training sessions in Lahore will enable the players to showcase their best skills and talent on the global stage,” said PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer.
“We are delighted that BCB has accepted our offer and look forward to welcoming the Bangladesh men’s cricket team to Lahore on August 13 with our traditional hospitality. This will allow them to complete three more days of training and practice at one of our iconic locations before proceeding to Islamabad as originally planned,” he added.
BCB Managing Director Nizam Uddin Chowdhury thanked the PCB for allowing the Bangladesh cricket team to undergo further training in Pakistan.
“This will definitely help the players acclimatize to the conditions and prepare better for the ICC World Test Championship series,” he said.
Notably, this will be Bangladesh’s first tour of Pakistan since 2020 when they played three T20Is in Lahore and a one-off Test in Rawalpindi.
Bangladesh also played two ACC Asia Cup 2023 matches in Lahore against Afghanistan and Pakistan.
