DALLAS: Canada beat Nepal by 63 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 in Dallas on Monday.
Nepal won the tournament and was selected to play at the Grande Prairie Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, Canada scored 183 for 7 in 20 overs. Nepal reached 120 in 19.3 overs.
Canadian Nicholas Kirton scored 51 in 39 runs with four fours and two sixes. Rawinderpal Singh contributed to his team’s success with a total of 41 runs.
Canadian bowlers also gave their best as Dillon Heilinger took four wickets while Jeremy Gordon and captain Saad bin Zafar took two wickets each.
Canada will also face the Netherlands in the final warm-up on Friday, May 31, after defeating Nepal.
In the second warm-up match, Oman beat Papua New Guinea by 138 runs by five wickets. It was held this morning at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
Papua New Guinea must take the first step after being thrown out. Despite scoring well, the team of Lega Siaka, 24-28, and Alei Nao, 10-17, were pushed to 137 runs from 20 overs.
Oman, on the other hand, impressed with batting as well as bowling. All-rounder Zeeshan Maksud scored 45 off 42 balls. Meanwhile, Aqib Ilyas added 3-22.
Also, Namibia defeated Uganda by five wickets in the third match earlier today. Tussag was defeated by Namibia and elected to the field.
In a battle between two African teams, Uganda scored 134 for 8 in 20 overs. Namibia reached 135 for 5.
Uganda’s Robinson Obuya scored 27 for 38 while Roger Mukasa hit 51 off 41 balls, including six fours and a six.
On the other hand, Nicolaas Dawin’s Namibia performed commendably, scoring a half century including five centuries. The highest partnership of 85 runs for the second wicket was Davin and JP Kotze.
However, JJ Smith scored a match-winning 21 to give Namibia victory.
Also, Namibia will face Australia tomorrow, May 29, at the Royal Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
