Fear of early dengue season

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa there is a fear of premature spread of the deadly dengue disease due to increase in mosquito breeding because of rains and floods. In that regard the provincial government has started its preparations and issued orders to the health department and other relevant departments to be ready.

It should be remembered that yesterday the Health Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expressed the fear of dengue spreading in the province after the recent rains and floods. An action plan for prevention has been prepared and sent to the Chief Secretary for approval, while a dengue control room has also been set up in the Directorate General of Health Services.

According to the action plan issued by the government, dengue larvae should be destroyed in time. Attention will be paid and 1 thousand 240 beds will be allocated in government hospitals for dengue patients. Under the action plan, 300 beds will be allocated for dengue patients in government hospitals of Peshawar while MTI Hospital will also be allocated for dengue patients separate wards will be allocated.

In this regard, the media has been told that a dengue control room will also be established in the Directorate General of Health Services, while the services of the Local Government Department and PDMA will also be obtained for the prevention of dengue.

The manner in which the government has taken notice of the stormy rains is admirable but at the same time the government institutions must also keep in mind that these measures of the government should not be limited to urban areas and areas outside the big towns but should also be countermeasures. The scope of dengue campaign should not be extended to villages and every sensitive area. It should be remembered that even in the past due to the shortcomings of the district administration, many areas of a big city like Peshawar were deprived of mosquito spray.

Apart from this, the anti-mosquito campaign is not successful due to bad management. Repeatedly complaints have been received from the citizens that the spraying done in their areas is not effective. Therefore it is necessary, this time when mosquito repellent would spray in sensitive and non-sensitive areas the chemical used in it should be strong and the other important thing is that its coverage should be complete.

It should be taken care that similar work should be done in all the areas of any union council so as not to leave one area and spray in another to get rid of glue. For that purpose there is a need to form special monitoring teams under the supervision of the commissioner of each district so that they can check the work done by their brothers. In the same way, in the dengue season, two numbers of mosquito killer sprays are also delivered in abundance in the market, which is very important because the areas that are deprived of the government spray often get it from the markets in the cities of these areas.

They buy mosquito repellents and use them, which are proven to be fake. It should be remembered that some so-called company owners do not shy away from advertising their fake medicines in the famous newspapers. Therefore it is important that the drugs of such companies are banned permanently and an awareness campaign about the recommended brands is conducted by government experts so that the citizens do not face difficulties in helping themselves.

It is hoped that the Provincial Minister of Health and Local Government and the government officials will guide the people in this regard by implementing this proposal and action will be taken against the government officials who stand in the way.

In this way the companies selling number two insecticides should also be destroyed. If the provincial government succeeds in conducting an anti-dengue campaign effectively this time, so there is no reason we cannot get out of that phase safely.
