TALASH: The famous Barani Khor near Kalpani Bazar and Shamshi Khan is presenting a scene of flooding due to heavy stormy rains. The reason for this is the traffic jam for hours, while the adjoining population, houses, markets including Jama Masjid and Madrasa can be swept away by the river at any time.
Communication with five districts was cut for the whole day. Like other parts of the country, people are confined to their homes due to continuous heavy rains and snowfall in Talash Dir Lower Valley for three days without any break.
The famous rain-fed river (Khwar) turned into a flood due to which the main Peshawar to Chitral highway was blocked, due to which passengers, patients, tourists and local people faced difficulties. The kelwats, built with poor materials and against engineering principles, became a life-threatening situation for the local residents.

Due to the narrow openings in the kelwats, the houses, markets and especially Jamia Masjid Kalpani were flooded due to blocking the flow of flood water. Umar Bin Khattab Jamia has become a danger of being swept away by the river and martyred at any time.
Due to heavy stormy rains and snowfall, despite the opening of government educational institutions, it remained deserted. In this regard, the people of the area have been demanding the construction of a bridge over the said rainy road since the time of the government and the construction of a protective embankment for the adjacent buildings including Jamia Masjid Kalpani and Umar Bin Khattab Madrasa.
